Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts on the occasion of #WorldTourismDay

The event on September 27, 2025, under the theme #TourismAndSustainableTransformation

On the occasion of "World Tourism Day," officially celebrated annually by the United Nations World Tourism Organization, I am pleased to extend my warmest congratulations and share with you the celebrations of this joyful occasion, this year bearing the theme "Tourism and Sustainable Transformation," as it is a key annual event that reaffirms our collective commitment to the importance of developing this vital sector, and enhancing its role as a key economic and cultural driver in the path to sustainable development.

Algeria celebrates, like countries around the world, on this day, with a commitment to tourism as a force for positive change and transformation towards more sustainable and innovative practices, through its ability to create jobs, stimulate and develop the local economy, strengthen ties between communities and cultures, and preserve traditions in their diversity and uniqueness. Moreover, it reaffirms, on every occasion, its firm commitment to developing the tourism sector as a genuine driver of sustainable economic and social development.

And Algeria aligns with the principles of sustainable tourism, which is evident in its commitment to supporting and empowering community groups as a key pillar in building a sustainable future, with the Algerian state placing great importance on investing in and training human potential and promoting its integration across various sectors, including the tourism sector.

And it also relies on supporting projects to become a driver for local development and a source of employment, providing them with a suitable environment, as financing mechanisms, establishing and supporting incubators, forging partnerships with international institutions, promoting innovation and technology, and organizing periodic exhibitions for institutional owners and project holders.

Algeria is also working to highlight its heritage by enhancing its tourism infrastructure and promoting sustainable investment that embodies "authentic and enduring Algerian tourism indicators aligned with modernity, preserving Algerian traditions and authenticity."

Given our commitment to this responsibility, we affirm that it has become imperative for us to take action today and intensify our efforts in support of sustainable tourism, engaging in this initiative by raising international awareness of the importance and social, cultural, and economic value of tourism, as well as implementing smart management of tourism resources through sustainable practices that minimize negative environmental, social, and cultural impacts, and by developing sustainable infrastructure.

Finally, and on this happy occasion—which remains one of the most important dates celebrated annually by the international community—I take this opportunity to invite all partners, tourism institutions, and investors to discover Algeria as an authentic tourist destination, and to work with us towards building a responsible and sustainable tourism that serves both people and the environment.

And every year, Algeria opens up to the world, with its heritage and authenticity and its promising sustainable future.
